Our
History
Berkeley Glass has been a trusted name in glazing since 1987, built on a simple belief: do the work right, stand behind it, and treat people well.
What began as a local glass shop has grown into a respected commercial and residential glazing partner serving clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic—without ever losing sight of the values that shaped us from the start.
The company was founded in 1987 by Doug Miller under the name Berkeley Glass Products, Inc. From day one, the focus was on dependable craftsmanship, honest communication, and showing up for the community we served. As word spread and demand grew, so did the team—bringing together skilled professionals who shared a commitment to quality and pride in their work. Those early years established a culture grounded in hard work, family values, and strong local relationships, a foundation that still guides us today.
In 2002, ownership transitioned to Doug Stein, and the company became Berkeley Glass. While the name was simplified, the mission stayed the same. Under Stein’s leadership, Berkeley Glass expanded its reach into Northern Virginia and strengthened its position as a reliable glazing contractor across the region. The people, processes, and commitment to customers remained consistent—allowing the company to grow without losing its identity.
The next chapter began in 2012 when current owner Shaun Dunn joined the company. With a forward-looking mindset, Shaun helped expand Berkeley Glass’s capabilities to include contract hardware, commercial steel doors, and wood doors—allowing us to better serve complex commercial projects. To support this growth, the team expanded to more than 50 professionals, each bringing experience, accountability, and a shared standard of excellence to every job.
Today, Berkeley Glass continues to operate with a strong emphasis on safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
